Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using "SHOBO" (the "Service"), a web-based investing simulation game provided by the operator of SHOBO (the "Operator").

Article 2 (Definitions)

1. "Service" means the web game "SHOBO" operated by the Operator and its accompanying pages (Terms, Privacy Policy, etc.).
2. "User" means anyone who uses the Service under these Terms.
3. "Content" means the text, images, code, simulation data, game results and the like provided within the Service.

Article 3 (Effect of and consent to the Terms)

By accessing the Service and starting a game, a User is deemed to agree to these Terms. The Operator may change the Terms and will announce changes in the Service at least 7 days in advance.

Article 4 (What the Service provides)

The Service provides the following.

• A virtual investing simulation set in Korean economic history from 2008 to 2026
• Simulated trading of virtual assets such as stocks, indices, real estate, crypto and deposits
• Viewing and sharing simulation results
• Comparing results with others through challenge codes

The Service is free to use, with no sign-up or payment.

Article 5 (Investing simulation disclaimer)

1. All figures in the game, including asset prices, returns and grades, are based on processed historical data or synthetic time series and differ from actual market results.
2. Game results do not predict or guarantee future investment returns. Past performance does not guarantee future returns; this is a basic principle of financial markets.
3. If a User makes real investment decisions based on information from the Service, the Operator bears no responsibility for any resulting losses.
4. Please consult a licensed financial professional (investment adviser, financial planner, etc.) for real investment decisions.
5. The in-game tax and fee system (0.1% trading fee, 10–20% capital gains tax, etc.) is simplified for game balance and differs from the rates, deductions and filing procedures of actual Korean tax law (Income Tax Act, Securities Transaction Tax Act, Local Tax Act, etc.). For tax matters, please consult a licensed tax accountant or the National Tax Service.

Article 6 (Data sources and accuracy)

Synthetic Synthetic time series

The default asset prices in the Service are a synthetic time series anchored to historical reference points and filled in between by mathematical interpolation (log interpolation plus regime-based volatility). It is a map traced from the real coastline, not a satellite photo.

Real data Real trading data

Where a separate data file (prices.json) exists, real daily closing prices are applied to some assets. The Operator does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of this data.

Real estate Real estate data

Apartment and land prices are synthetic time series referencing real turning points in transactions. They do not match actual property prices and cannot be used as a basis for sale or rental prices.

Challenge code Challenge code data

Other users' game results shared through challenge codes are generated automatically from those users' play records, and the Operator does not guarantee their accuracy or authenticity. Challenge code data may be manipulated, and the Operator is not responsible for decisions based on it.

Article 7 (Intellectual property)

1. Intellectual property rights in the Service's content, including its design, source code, game logic, text and images, belong to the Operator or the original authors.
2. The Service's source code is published under the MIT License and may be used freely under the terms of the MIT License.
3. Users are free to share their game results on social media and elsewhere, but anyone who modifies the Service's content to run a separate commercial service must comply with the terms of the MIT License (copyright notice, etc.).

Article 8 (User obligations)

Users must not do the following.

• Interfere with the normal operation of the Service (DDoS attacks, excessive automated requests, etc.)
• Use the Service to infringe others' rights or engage in illegal activity
• Manipulate game results and spread false investment returns as if they were real

Article 9 (Disclaimer)

1. The Operator provides the Service "AS IS" and makes no warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding its accuracy, completeness, reliability, timeliness or fitness for a particular purpose.
2. The Operator is not responsible if the Service is interrupted for reasons beyond its control, such as natural disasters, server failures or network failures.
3. The Operator is not responsible for damages a User suffers while using the Service (data loss, device failure, etc.) unless caused by the Operator's intent or gross negligence.
4. The Operator is not responsible for the content of external links (third-party websites) within the Service.

Article 10 (Changes to and suspension of the Service)

The Operator may modify or suspend all or part of the Service as needed for operational or technical reasons, and has no obligation to provide compensation for doing so. If the Service is suspended, notice will be given in advance within reason.

Article 12 (Governing law and jurisdiction)

These Terms are interpreted and applied under the laws of the Republic of Korea, and the Uijeongbu District Court has jurisdiction as the court of first instance for disputes relating to the use of the Service.

Addendum

These Terms take effect on June 1, 2026.
